UPDATE: All lanes have reopened.
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Two lanes of Interstate 295 north near the Appomattox River Bridge are closed as the Chesterfield County Fire Department cleans a hazmat spill.
Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Molnar said chemicals used to clean pools spilled inside of a box truck about 7:15 this morning. No injuries were reported.
A special contractor was called in to handle the spill. That crew is expected to arrive around 11 a.m.
Chesterfield County Fire and EMS spokesman Lt. Jason Elmore said there is no hazard to drivers, but the “chlorine-type solution” that spilled might cause an environmental hazard.
The spilled happened near near mile marker 15.
