SALEM, Va. (WTVR) — Governor Bob McDonnell kicked off a week-long tour of Virginia Friday.
The trip started in Salem, which is located in the western part of the Commonwealth. The tour also includes stops in more than a dozen other cities, including Lynchburg, Danville, Bristol and Portsmouth.
The governor said the trip is a way to rebuild his reputation after the scandal surrounding his last six months in office.
McDonnell is under federal investigation because of unreported gifts he received from Star Scientific CEO Jonnie Williams.
During the trip, the governor is expected to talk about his achievements in office, including a falling unemployment rate and transportation reform.
