RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Police identified the man found shot and killed while driving a car in South Richmond as Samuel L. Washington, 20, of Larrymore Road. Washington was shot while driving near the intersection of German School and Deter Roads about 7 p.m. Wednesday, police said. The crime scene is about one mile from Washington's home.
Police said Washington was able to drive about a fifth of a mile before he crashed into a home. Washington died at the scene. No one inside the house was hurt.
"I heard about five or six gunshots," one witness told CBS 6.
Another man said that he was at a friend's house when he heard a loud crash.
"Upon going outside we spotted a black Lexus stuck in the side of his pickup truck inside the house," said Roy Bridges.
"When officers responded they saw a black vehicle that had left that scene and traveled about a quarter of a mile up German School toward Jahnke and struck a pole," Richmond Police Major Steve Drew said.
Police said they did not believe the shooting was random and said "it may have been the result of an argument or dispute."
Witnesses told CBS 6 News' Chelsea Rarrick they saw another car driving alongside the Lexus and believed the shots were fired from that vehicle.
Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
