RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Interstate 64 will be shutdown for several hours Sunday morning, but not for road repairs. Now that Hurricane Season is in full swing, the state is practicing how it would evacuate Hampton Roads in case of emergency. That includes reversing Interstate 64 lanes so that all traffic would head west toward Richmond.
Sunday morning from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. Interstate 64 east from exit 231 near Williamsburg to exit 205 in Richmond, Bottoms Bridge Road, will shutdown so crews can practice the reversals.
If you have to travel between those hours. the state suggests taking Route 60 east toward Williamsburg and Hampton Roads.
