Chesterfield supervisors vote down proposed water park, hotel

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WTVR) — A proposed new water park in Chesterfield County will not be built.

The Chesterfield Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Wednesday night to deny the approval of a zoning change for the park’s proposed location off Newbys Bridge Road.

A lot of people spoke in favor of the project at the meeting. However, some raised concerns about well water quality and an increase in traffic and noise.

Doug Hackman and his partners had a grand vision for the 23-plus acres along Newbys Bridge Road and had described the project as a tropical adventure with elaborate landscaping.
