HENRICO, Va. (WTVR) — Virginia State Police responded to the scene of a single vehicle crash on the westbound side of Interstate 64 near the Glenside exit around 12:17 p.m. Saturday.
According to State Police the crash occurred after the left rear tire blew on a Jeep Cherokee causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle ran off the right side of the road and hit a sign.
Police say the driver, identified as 69-year-old Yvonne C. Cook, was wearing her safety belt and died at the scene.
The right lane was closed for approximately 70 minutes to allow for the on-going state police investigation.
