HAMPTON, Va. (WTVR) -- Officials have decided to close the Hampton Coliseum Spring Carnival a week ahead of schedule after five teenagers were shot nearby Saturday night.
When police were called to on Coliseum Drive around 11 p.m., they discovered 16-year-old Ralphael Davis Jr. lying in the road and shot in the upper torso.
Davis was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead just before 11:15 p.m.
Additionally, police said four other teens were found shot in parking lots across from the hotels on Coliseum Drive.
Police said a verbal altercation, which took place between two groups of people, escalated. The suspect pulled out a gun, shot off several rounds and the teens were hit.
Police have not yet released any information about the suspect.
