A tractor-trailer accident has closed Huguenot Trail (Rt. 711) in Powhatan.

The road is closed between St. Mary’s Way and Judes Ferry Rd. due to a tractor trailer accident.  VDOT says to expect closure for another one to three hours.

The driver, who was wearing his safety belt, suffered minor injuries and was assessed at the scene by emergency medical technicians, said police.

The trailer was loaded with cinder blocks.  Route 711 in both directions remains closed to allow for clean-up.

The driver, Mark P. McCoy, 47, of Richmond, was charged with reckless driving ; failure to maintain proper control, according to Sergeant Thomas J. Molnar with the VSP.

The crash remains under investigation.

If headed eastbound, use Maidens Rd. (Rt. 522) to Anderson Hwy. (Rt. 60) or River Rd. W as alternate routes.
