(WTVR) — Robert Griffin III is expected to be in Richmond in a couple months when Washington Redskins training camp gets underway. But before work begins on the field, he is raising money for charity.

The Redskins quarterback made an appearance at a luncheon for the American Cancer Society in Ashburn, Virginia. There a Texas man paid $15,000 for a pair of pink cleats worn by Griffin during a game last season.

Then 18 people paid $1,000 each to pose with Griffin for a photo that RG3 will sign.

In total, Griffin helped to raise $33,000 at the luncheon.
