(WTVR) — One of the iconic stars of the long-running CBS soap opera “The Young and the Restless” is back in the hospital.
Jeanne Cooper’s son, actor Corbin Bernsen, shared the news via Twitter on Wednesday afternoon and begged fans to pray for the ailing 84-year-old.
“Need some heavy lifting prayers 4 what we R facing. Tough choices,” Bernsen said on Twitter.
Bernsen also took to his Facebook page,asking for an “abundance of prayers” after his mom was taken to hospital.
“Not sure what to pray for at this point or what we even want for her. I know in my heart there is more for her to do in this world, but I also know there is a season for all things. I want more than anything comfort for her. I want her to have peace,” he wrote.
“She’s a fighter and I know she’ll continue that,” Bernsen continued. “But when you’re boxer is in the corner, bruised and bloodied from battle and demands to keep going, what do you do? I’m saying my prayers this morning, asking for guidance.”
Last weekend, Corbin posted a photo of his wheelchair-bound mom leaving the hospital.
Bernsen tweeted earlier this month that his mother’s breathing tube had been removed and that prayers from around the world were helping her heal.
Cooper had been hospitalized for several weeks week in Los Angeles. CBS LosAngeles reported the actress, who has played Katherine Chancellor on television since the early 1970s, was in critical condition.
However, after Bernsen tweeted he needed prayers for his mom on April 12, he said he was “blown away” by the compassion he received via Twitter.
According to her online bio,Cooper was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmy Awards in 2004. The bio indicates Cooper has three children and eight grandchildren.
