HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR)- A new farmers market is scheduled to open this spring in the parking lot of Aw Shuck’s Country Store at 6100 Pouncey Tract Road in Glen Allen.
The market is scheduled to be open Wednesdays from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm beginning May 1 and running through September 11.
Aw Shucks owner Duncan Van Ness offered the location for the 20,000+ residents of the Nuckols Road Corridor while West End Farmers Market owner Kris Riley will provide the vendors, according to an email from Riley.
“The best part of my job is giving new farms using sustainable farming methods a venue to sell their products to shoppers eager for them,” Riley said.
The market will offer locally grown fruit, vegetables, cheese, yogurt, jam, eggs, meat, country sausage, desserts and locally made soap.
Riley added one farm that will make its debut at the new farmers market is Turnip and Beets, a start-up farm located in Gladstone, Virginia.
The original West End Farmers Market started four years ago at the corner of Gayton Road and Ridgefield Parkway.
