Plane crash victim was Air Force Major General

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - The man killed in Friday's plane crash near Williamsburg was an experienced Air Force officer.

Air Force Major General Joseph D. Brown IV and his wife were killed when their single-engine Cessna crashed next to a retirement community, according to Virginia State Police.

Brown, 54, clocked more than 4,300 flight hours in his background with the Air Force, mainly in B-1 and B-52, police said. He served combat time in operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom.
