PETERSBURG, Va. (WTVR)– Traffic is moving once again Tuesday evening after an accident on I-95 at mile marker 50 in Petersburg caused major delays.
Virginia State Police said the crash happened just after 4 p.m. after the driver of a 2011 Ford E-350 van ran off the left side of the roadway and overcorrected striking the guardrail.
After striking the guardrail, the van came to rest on the passenger side.
The adult male driver, who was the only occupant in the van, suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Southside Regional Medical Center.
The crash remains under investigation.
The south left shoulder, left lane, center lane and right lane were closed. Traffic backups were 1.5 miles, at 4:51 p.m.
