RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- Police said Sunday that a 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with four robberies that took place in the Fan Friday night.

The robberies happened between 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in the 300 block of North Allen Street and the 1600 blocks of West Grace Street and Monument Avenue.

Police said in each of the incidents, armed suspects stole cash and cell phones.

Police said no one was injured in the robberies, which police do believe are connected.

Officials said the suspects were described as black men in their early 20s.

The Fan District Association sent an email warning to residents, and they posted tips on how to avoid being robbed.

  • Don’t leave valuables in sight in your parked vehicle
  • Watch out for your neighbors: if you see someone who might be trying to get into a house, or taking something from a house or porch, dial 911 and get a description
  • Be aware of your surroundings, especially if you are out late at night
  • Note the general patterns of crime in the most recent safety update, and avoid placing yourself or family / roommates in similar circumstances
