STERLING, Va. (WTVR) –    An autopsy report reveals the body of a newborn baby girl found in a Loudoun County pond over the weekend had been there for at least a day or two.

The autopsy could not determine if she had been stillborn or alive.
It also revealed there was no food in her stomach.

Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman told WUSAthat someone out for a walk spotted the baby girl floating in the pond along the shoreline on Sunday.

The pond is in a quiet upscale neighborhood off Steed Place near Algonkian Parkway, according to WUSA.

"It's mostly adults with families and fishing poles," said Sheriff Mike Chapman. "Apparently she is a full term, new born baby and it's a very sad situation."

Officials are searching for the mother, who likely needs medial attention.

The baby has been taken to the medical examiner's office and it is unknow if the baby was still born or alive at birth.
