Expect overnight delays on Powhite Parkway Bridge

Posted

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — If you travel southbound on the Powhite Parkway James River Bridge, expect some delays over the next month.

Starting Wednesday, April 3 the bridge will undergo a month-long latex overlay project that is scheduled to end the first week of May, weather permitting.

Throughout the duration of this project, motorists will experience multiple lane closures beginning at 7 p.m. through 6 a.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays.

In addition, crews will work throughout each weekend from 7 p.m. Friday evening until 6 a.m. Monday morning. This construction is not expected to affect the weekday, evening rush-hour period.

The $3.3 million job is expected to be completed in early May.

The northbound lanes are scheduled to undergo a similar venture in the spring of 2014.

This project was originally scheduled to begin in fall 2012, but was rescheduled for because of winter weather.

Motorists are reminded to pay attention to signage in the area and to use caution while traveling through the work zone.
