RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Fire officials are investigating a gas leak on the 2400 block of Burton Street.
A call came in at 7:20 p.m. indicating a substantial gas rupture. Lieutenant Hagaman with Richmond Fire says that buildings in the nearby area, such as the Church Hill House, have been evacuated. 130 out of 170 people were evacuated from the Church Hill House.
According to residents, the Department of Public Utilities was working on a water main before the gas leak occurred.
Crews marked the leak under control just before 9 p.m.
There are no injuries.
