AUBURN HILLS (WTVR)--Virginia Commonwealth Rams entered their NCAA conference running hard.

The Rams, seeded fifth, were up against 12th seeded Akron Zips, a team Coach Shaka Smart is familiar with, having served as assistant coach.

Coach Smart maintained the full court press known as Havoc throughout the game, despite the major lead the Rams wielded.

Forward Juvonte Reddic scored 1,000 points in the game, the thirty-second VCU player to do so.

Final score was 88-42, the largest margin NCAA victory in a 5/12 seed match-up.

The Zips had suffered a loss in their team, with four total players out, three starters. Two had the flu, one was out with back spasms, and one was suspended last week.

The next game for the Rams, third-round play, will be on Saturday.

The Rams take on the Michigan Wolverines at 12:15 p.m. in a game you can watch on CBS 6.
