RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — Richmond police said a 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with a weekend shooting in the city’s Southside that sent another teen to the hospital.

Police said the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested the suspect on Monday.

The teen has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated malicious wounding,  use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a firearm by a juvenile.

The suspect is being held at the Chesterfield County Juvenile Detention Center.

Police sources told CBS 6 News that a large group of teens were at the party near the 1300 block of Hull Street Sunday just before the incident.

According to Richmond police,  the teens exchanged words just before 9:50 p.m. That’s when police said the 15-year-old opened fire on the 16-year-old, who was walking home from the party along the 1100 block of Decatur Street.

A neighbor told CBS 6 News’ Jake Burns that they heard four shots fired in the area. Police roped off a 2-block perimeter to investigate further.

The victim remains hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds.
