COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WTVR) – The funeral for the 21-year-old man killed in a brutal mob beating in Colonial Heights will be held Tuesday.

A candlelight vigil Friday night honored Rusty Mack, who was allergy beaten to death by three people, including his estranged wife, on Feb. 11 outside his Colonial Heights apartment around 10 p.m.

Ashley Mack, Francis Joseph Blaha III, Jonathan Guy and a 17-year-old girl are all now charged in connection with Mack’s death. In addition to the Murder by Mob charge, Guy, Mack and the teenager are also charged with First Degree Murder.

Mack was declared brain dead before he passed away last Thursday at VCU Medical Center.

Rusty’s best friend, Dustin Bullard, said he is still coming to grips with what happened.

“I didn’t really think it was him because I just talked to him not too long ago, and everything was fine,” Bullard said.

Mack was remembered as a sweet and fun-loving person at a benefit Saturday. His family said they will fight to keep his memory alive, despite the pain.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 5 at 11 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Church. That's at 3110 Greenwood Avenue in Colonial Heights.  Interment will follow at the Southlawn Memorial Park in Prince George.

The family will also gather with friends on Monday, March 4 form 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home at 2033 Boulevard.
