RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Skies became overcast early Tuesday morning ahead of a storm system that will bring a washout to the Commonwealth today. The rain will move into our region from the south this morning, with the Richmond Metro seeing the rain start by 10 a.m.
This storm system will affect all areas of the Commonwealth with some measure of rain, with most areas receiving between 0.75" and 1.25" of total rainfall. The heaviest rain will fall this afternoon.
A light wintry mix will be likely across the western part of the state, where a winter weather advisory will remain in effect until 6 PM. Elevations above 1000 feet will see light icing and sleet accumulations.
The rain will end late tonight into the pre-dawn hours on Wednesday from the southwest to the northeast.
