RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – By a vote of 29 to nine University of Virginia Rector Helen Dragas was reconfirmed by the Virginia Senate to lead the University’s Board of Directors.
Dragas became embroiled in controversy last year after she led a failed attempt to University President Teresa Sullivan.
The House of Delegates must now confirm the appointment before she can officially begin her second, four-year term.
Previously the University of Virginia Student Council unanimously voted against the Dragas appointment. The council’s vote didn’t carry any political weight, other than to show their disapproval for her appointment.
