A series of storms will pass through our area Monday through Wednesday with occasional rainfall. Some of this rain will be heavy at times, especially south of interstate 64.
Various computer model runs over the past 48 hours have indicated a high chance that our area will see at least 1″ of rainfall during the Monday through Wednesday period. There is the potential for rainfall totals in excess of 2″ in many spots.
The heaviest rainfall will occur across western Virginia, where isolated 3″+ totals are possible.
One other aspect of this period worth watching is that colder air will sit across the higher elevations of Virginia Monday night and Tuesday night. There will be the chance for a wintry mix during those times.
