Thursday’s rainfall in review

Posted

The storm that moved through our area Thursday into early Friday morning deposited at least one-quarter inch of rain across most of our viewing area.  Richmond International Airport received 0.72″, and isolated areas like Charlottesville picked up about one inch of rain.

While this rainfall did not erase the huge rainfall deficits in the area, it was the highest 24-hour rainfall total since late October.

One-third of Virginia continues to be experiencing moderate drought.

Some light rain is possible on Monday, with a better chance for another good rainfall on Wednesday.  It also looks like we may have another storm around January 1.  We will continue to monitor these systems over the next week.
