CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Jameshai Rhashad Smith, 20, is charged with killing Brian Lewis Long, 32, inside the home they shared.  Today Smith appeared via video conferencing, where a judge at the Chesterfield General District Court transferred his charges of first degree murder, shooting into an occupied residence and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony over to Juvenile and Domestic Relations.

Police said Smith shot and killed Long, according to an email from Chesterfield Police. Officers found Long’s body when they were called to a home in the 10200 block of Ronaldton Road Wednesday night to investigate gunshots.

Police found Smith close to the crime scene. They said although Smith lived with Long, the two are not related.

After the judge dismissed Smith, he left without saying anything to the judge.  However Smith did have a question for a bailiff, asking "can I eat now?"

Smith is being held at the Chesterfield County jail with no bond.

His next court date is set for Friday, December 21 at noon.
