CULPEPER, Va. (WTVR) – On Friday a Culpeper parent was charged with assaulting her son’s bus driver.

Police said that a bus driver transporting students from Pearl Sample and A.G Richardson Elementary schools let students off at Amelia Drive and North Ridge Blvd.

The mother of a student allegedly approached the bus driver and accused her of threatening to kill her son, police said.

The woman allegedly yelled at the bus driver and tried to obstruct the bus door from closing. The bus driver reportedly asked the mother multiple times to get off the bus.

Police said that at one point the mother’s arm was caught in the closing bus door.

Then when the driver opened the door the mother, Bethany L. Rudd, allegedly hit the female bus driver in the face.

The bus driver later reported that she had told Rudd’s son to sit down on the bus for safety reasons.

As a result of the incident, Rudd is charged with assault & battery and trespassing; she was released on a $2500 unsecured bond.
