Hanover County (WTVR) – It could cost you more in the future to own a car if you live in Hanover. The county is proposing a $10-per-vehicle fee.
That fee would take the place of cash proffers, which is the fee developers pay to the county for future roads, schools and other services the homes they build will need.
Hanover’s Board of Supervisors voted to get rid of proffers Wednesday night because of the decline in new development in the county.
Public hearings on the proposed car tax will be held in January.
