RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - A babysitter was convicted in the death of a two-year-old Richmond girl. Gabriella Gonzales, 25, plead no contest to voluntary manslaughter and felony child abuse charges.

In October 2011, the child's mother went out of state to look for a job and left her toddler with Gonzales.

The child was injured while in the babysitter's care. An ambulance took the unresponsive child to the hospital where she later died.

Gonzales claimed the child fell off a bed, but the Richmond Commonwealth's Attorney's office said the child's skull, brain and spinal cord injuries suggested a violent attack.

Gonzales faces up to 20 years in prison when she is sentenced in March. She will likely face deportation as well.
