Armed robbery reported near Monroe Park campus

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)–Richmond Police said a robbery was reported near the VCU Monroe Park campus shortly before midnight on Monday, Oct. 29; although the alleged crime occurred 45 minutes before it was reported.

Police said that the robbery happened at Plum Street and Grove Avenue. The victim said that he was approached by two black males, who had exited a dark-colored four-door vehicle.

The first suspect produced a silver semi-automatic handgun and demanded the victim’s belongings, said police.  After taking personal items, both men ran southbound on Plum Street.

The victim waited approximately 45 minutes before reporting the robbery. The Richmond Police Department is currently investigating this crime.

Both suspects are described as black males. The first suspect is described as a black male wearing a black hoodie, dark pants and having a black bandana covering his face. 

The second suspect was a black male wearing a black hoodie, dark pants and a black nylon hunting style mask covering his face.

VCU police said that it can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the community.
