CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Police arrested the former Chesterfield substitute teacher accused of having "inappropriate contact" with a student inside a classroom at Cosby High School.

According to an email from Chesterfield Police Lt. Randy Horowitz, police charged Anna Michelle Walters with taking indecent liberties with child by person in custodial or supervisory relationship and with one count of crimes against nature to wit: carnal knowledge.

Horowitz said police began investigating Walters after a former student came forward this month claiming he had a sexual relationship with the 23-year-old woman. That student went public with his claims via Twitter, going as far as tweeting pictures of a naked woman he said were sent to him by Walters.

The investigation led police to uncover Walters had relationships with "additional students who were minors," Horowitz said.

Horowitz said the crime Walters is charged with is not connected to the student whose claims initiated the investigation, rather a student who was a minor at the time of the alleged sexual contact. The contact occurred during the last school year, Horowitz said.

Walters will remain in jail pending a Thursday appearance in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
