RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – An area of low pressure we have been monitoring the last several days in the central Atlantic Ocean is now Tropical Depression 15, but the National Hurricane Center forecasters do not expect it to last very long.
Here are the latest conditions from the National Hurricane Center:
SUMMARY OF 1100 AM AST...1500 UTC...INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------- LOCATION...17.3N 41.5W ABOUT 1160 MI...1870 KM W OF THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...35 MPH...55 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...NW OR 320 DEGREES AT 15 MPH...24 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1008 MB...29.77 INCHES
While some strengthening is possible through Friday, potentially allowing this to become our next named Tropical Storm Oscar, wind shear should disrupt the organization of the system and force it to turn to the northeast by the end of this week. TD 15 or then-Tropical Storm Oscar should be forced to weaken.
Track TD 15 and the still-going Tropical Storm Nadine HERE at ourHurricane Tracker Tool on our website.
