HENRICO, Va. (WTVR)—Around 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, a woman jumped from an overpass in the west end.
She is suffering life threatening injuries after jumping from the bridge on Interstate 64 from the Pouncey Tract Road in Short Pump, said police.
She ended up in the eastbound lanes. The woman was not hit by any cars, said police.
A Goochland County Deputy was travelling east, saw the woman, stopped and stopped traffic to keep the woman from getting hit.
She was rushed to VCU Medical Center.
The bridge is about 35-feet high; or taller than than three regulation basketball goals stacked together vertically.
