Kentucky police have issued a warrant for the arrest of former Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart.
The drummer, who thrummed along as one of the band’s “rhythm devils,” for a quarter century, now tours with the Mickey Hart Band.
On September 8, the band played a show as part of the Terrapin Hill Harvest Festival, located at Terrapin Hill Farm in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.
The warrant was filled after the musician allegedly attacked someone, multiple media outlets report.
TMZ first reported on the story and said that although details of the alleged attack are unclear, the alleged victim filed a police report following the incident and initiated assault charges.
On his Facebook fan page Hart released a statement:
“I am totally baffled by a bizarre claim of assault by me coming out of Kentucky – the home of Bluegrass and a state I love dearly. Any accusation or claim of assault against me is completely false and without any basis whatsoever. I played drums on “Shakedown Street,” but I never expected to be “The Victim or the Crime.”
Hart, whose legal name is Michael Hartman just celebrated his 69th birthday on Sept. 11.
The drummer has never received any assault charges prior to this.
