PRINCE GEORGE, Va. (WTVR) - A man who apparently fell from a bridge in Prince George has been rescued after spending nearly a day under the structure.

The man was discovered Friday afternoon by chance as Prince George police were working an accident on the Route 144 bridge.

An assisting officer from Colonial Heights, who was directing traffic, happened to look down and spotted the man lying on the ground below the bridge.

Officials said the victim is believed to have been under the bridge since 3 a.m.

Police said the man, who likely fell at least 75 feet from the bridge, was badly injured.  In fact, CBS 6 News senior reporter Wayne Covil said he had a severe leg injury.
