UPDATED. Police: Teacher saved lives at Md. school shooting
BALTIMORE, Md. (WTVR) – Baltimore County Police are investigating a high school shooting. The CBS station in Baltimore reported one student, 15, was shot and police had a suspect, 17, in custody.
WJZ reported the student suffered a “critical” gunshot wound and was flown to the hospital via helicopter where he is listed in serious condition.
Police were called to Perry Hall High School for the shooting Monday morning.
Hundreds of students were escorted from the school to nearby shopping center.
Today is the first day of classes at Perry Hall High School.
“I want to offer reassurance to everyone that the police department has the situation well under control,” Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz told WJZ. “It was a random act of shooting….It’s a difficult world we live in today. I kind of hoped Baltimore County would be immune, from this type of activity, but apparently we are not.”
This is a developing story.
