CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WTVR) – A Charlottesville Circuit Court judge says he will not delay sentencing for the man convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend, former UVA Lacrosse Player, Yeardley Love. Instead, it will go on as scheduled on August 30.
At a hearing Monday, George Huguely’s attorneys argued the sentencing should be delayed because the prosecution withheld information from them during the trial.
They say the Commonwealth was obligated to disclose information that the Love family had talked with prosecutors about filing a multimillion dollar wrongful death lawsuit.
Huguely is expected to be back in court on August 2nd. His defense will argue why they think the second degree murder conviction should be tossed out.
