CULPEPER, Va. (WTVR) — A Culpeper church that sustained about $1,000,000 in structural damage from last year’s earthquake is trying to raise money for repairs.
St. Stephen’s Episcopal churchwants to raise $500,000 to help pay for repairs that have already been made or still need to be done.
According to The Free Lance-Star, the goal is to have the money raised by the church’s 200th anniversary in November 2014.
A committee is looking to book at least one fundraising event each month.
The region has experienced dozens of aftershocks since a 5-point-8 magnitude earthquake struck on August 23, 2011.
