HANOVER, Va (WTVR) - A tractor-trailer accident forced portions of Interstate 95 to shut down early Thursday morning.
Hanover and Henrico County fire and rescue crews rushed to I-95 south bound lanes, near the Atlee-Elmont exit, just before 2 a.m. They found an SUV on fire and a tractor-trailer, jack-knifed in the median of the interstate.
State police say the SUV hit a guard rail and then the tractor-trailer slammed into the SUV.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was the only person hurt. He was taken to VCU medical center with non-life threatening injuries. Hazmat crews are cleaning up the diesel fuel that leaked out.
One southbound lane remains closed as of 6:45 this morning.
