Family carries out fallen Navy SEAL’s final request

Posted

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WTVR) – The family of Virginia-based Navy Seal killed in a helicopter crash is keeping their son’s spirit alive by honoring one of his final wishes.

Chris Campbell was on of the Navy Seals who were killed last August, when the Taliban shot down their Chinook Helicopter in eastern Afghanistan.

But Campbell’s legacy wouldn’t soon be forgotten. In his will, he left behind one final mission for his family to carry forward.

“If anything happened to him in combat, that we wouldn’t focus on his loss, that’s hard to do, but he wanted to focus on Wounded Warriors,” said his father, Larry Campbell. “Chris just wanted 100,000 people to donate a dollar, we are just trying to help fulfill his wish.”

Chris’ family is organizing fundraisers, auctions,  and memorial bike rides- all to get to that benchmark. To date, 800 people have given $70,000 to the Wounded Warrior project.
