RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)--Sen. Mark R. Herring, D-Loudoun, has announced that he seeks the Democratic nomination for the 2013 attorney general’s contest.
“I’m proud to announce my candidacy to be the next Attorney General of Virginia. I hope you will join me in getting the politics out of the Attorney General’s office and returning the focus to doing what’s right for the people of Virginia.”
Del. Robert B. Bell, R-Albemarle; Fairfax County Circuit Court Clerk John Frey; and Sen. Mark D. Obenshain, R-Harrisonburg, have announced their intention to seek the GOP nomination.
Before his election into the state Senate in 2006, Herring served on the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.
