Richmond, VA (WTVR) – Governor Bob McDonnell is requesting federal assistance for Virginia cities and counties affected by the June derecho. That includes Louisa, Amelia, New Kent, and Powhatan Counties in Central Virginia.

If approved, that money can be used to pay for emergency crews that responded to the storm. It can also be used for debris removal and emergency shelters.

The money is only for cities and counties, not individuals who have storm damage from the June 29th storms.
