Eileen Andes of Theodore Roosevelt National Park said the body of 48-year-old Dan Olszewski has been found. She says the family has been notified, but no other details are being released at this time.
Olszewski had been missing since Sunday morning when he left for a day hike in the South Unit. A co-worker reported him missing Monday morning.
Searches have been conducted by foot, horseback, and with helicopters the past three days.
Olszewski is from Virginia, but had been working for Morton Buildings in Bismarck.
The search ended after three days, with more than 41 people actively searching for Olszewski by helicopter, on foot and by horseback.
Andes said that Olszewski’s body was found off of the Maah Dah Hey Trail in the southwestern part of the park’s South Unit. He was spotted by a helicopter crew from Minot Air Force Base.
The body will be taken to the North Dakota State Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
