AMELIA COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – An Amelia Deputy and Commonwealth’s Attorney are honored for helping subdue an inmate that got loose inside the courthouse.

Deputy Joseph Jones, Commonwealth’s Attorney Lee Harrison, and a janitor helped corral a prisoner, 31-year-old Joseph Greene, who allegedly got out of his shackles while at the Amelia County Courthouse for a hearing last week.

Both Deputy Jones and Harrison were honored for their heroic actions at a ceremony, held by the American Legion in Amelia Thursday.

CBS 6 reporter Jon Burkett was at the event and will have more on CBS 6 News at 11 p.m.
