GLEN ALLEN, Va. (WTVR) – President Barack Obama will stop in Glen Allen while he campaigns in Virginia this weekend. A source from the Obama campaign told CBS 6 the President will hold a “grass roots” event at the Walkerton Tavern on Saturday.

The President’s visit to Central Virginia is scheduled to last from mid-morning to mid-afternoon Saturday.

Workers at the Walkerton Tavern would not confirm the campaign stop, but did tell CBS 6 the tavern was reserved all-day Saturday for an event.

The Walkerton Tavern, located at 2892 Mountain Road, is part of the Henrico County Parks and Recreation system. According to the county website, it has served as “a tavern, store, post office, voting precinct, and possibly a field hospital for wounded Union Cavalrymen in 1864.”

Built in 1825, Walkerton Tavern is now used to host county parks and recreation events and is available for private rental, according to Elaine Payne, Marketing and Publicity Coordinator for Henrico’s Recreation and Parks Department.
