RICHMOND, Va (WTVR) -- Tonight, if Mother Nature does not steal the show, Richmond will enjoy an amazing fireworks show over the James River.

At Brown's Island musical entertainment is planned for 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.  Organizers of the event are encouraging you to bring a blanket or lawn chair for seating.

The fireworks show is scheduled to take place Tuesday, July 3, at 9:15 p.m. on Brown's Island.  In addition to Brown's Island, excellent viewing sites will be available in surrounding areas including Oregon Hill, Manchester, Libbie Hill, Chimborazo Park and the Virginia War Memorial

"From what I understand from our good friends at Venture Richmond, there are going to be some pretty fabulous fireworks," said Jeb Hockman with the Virginia War Memorial.  "What can be more beautiful than over the James River and over downtown Richmond?  This is a gorgeous area and a beautiful city and we should all be proud."

If there is a rain out,  the fireworks festivity will be rescheduled to July 5.
