BLACKSTONE, Va. (WTVR) – The congregation of a church in Blackstone found spray-painted racist graffiti on their church’s sign over the weekend.
The vandalism was discovered by Spring Hill Baptist Church members Sunday as they arrived for the church’s 168th anniversary celebration.
Pastor Travis L.C. Warren said someone spray-painted racial slurs on both sides of the church’s marquee, as well as the town sign on Rt. 606.
Pastor Warren said the church is saddened by the vandalism.
Additionally, Warren said he planned to leave the slur on the church’s sign for a few hours, along with a sign reading: God forgives them.
“We have come a long way in 168 years, yet we still have a long way to go,” said Warren.
