Shooting on Belle Isle, shooters at large

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)— A late night shooting on Belle Isle has police searching for two suspects after a man was shot in the upper torso, police sources told CBS 6. 

The shooting victim suffered life-threatening injuries, according to the daily Richmond Police crime report. Richmond Police Capt. Paul Kiniry has confirmed that there has been a shooting on Belle Isle, with a call for help made near midnight.

Police sources said that the victim has been shot in the chest.  Police are on the scene with K-9 units, they’ve had to search for the victim by foot and by air and are still searching for the suspects.

Police sources tell CBS 6 that they are searching for two white males. One is in his 20s-30s, skinny, with a shaved head and wearing blue jeans. The second suspect is in his 40s, wearing blue jeans, a blue shirt and a ball cap.

As of 12:50 a.m., the two suspects are at large and the search is near the power plant on Belle Isle. They were believed to be heading to the south of the island towards the Lee Bridge.
