Tropical Storm Debby forms in the Gulf

and last updated

As we mentioned on Friday, an area of disturbed weather has been brewing in the Gulf of Mexico.  The National Hurricane Center sent a reconnaissance plane into the system Saturday afternoon, and determined at 5 p.m. that it had reached tropical storm status.

Debby will not move much the next few days, and may not make a landfall until the end of the coming week.  As of now, it looks like she may hit the Texas coast sometime late Thursday or Friday as a category one hurricane.

Additional updates can be found in the CBS 6 Hurricane Tracker.
