A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for most of the area until 9 pm. Isolated severe storms developed after 1pm today, and will continue to increase the rest of the day as a cold front approaches from the west.
Isolated storms will contain strong wind gusts in excess of 60 mph. A few storms may also contain hail.
Storms today have been moving extremely slowly, at times less than 10 mph. This will allow very heavy rainfall, possibly in excess of 2″, in a short period of time.
After the sun sets and a cold front passes later this evening, the threat for severe weather will end.
