RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)—Attention, Ram Nation, there is a campaign to bring ESPN’s College Gameday to the Siegel Center during the 2012-13 season.
The VCU Athletic department has joined forces with its fan site, VCURamNation.com to petition ESPN to bring the signature franchise Gameday to the Siegel Center.
A petition has surfaced on the fan site for fans to sign, and the campaign aims make a viral hit with social media outreach.
Time is of the essence says the school. ESPN traditionally announces its locations for the upcoming season in late August.
Organizers are hoping that the segment would set up a Final Four rematch between VCU and Butler this winter.
You can sign the petition by clicking here. So far, as of 9 p.m. on Monday, 402 people have signed.
The organizers also asked fans (that are on Twitter) to use the hashtag #Gameday2VCU and send tweets to ESPN throughout the summer.
They list the following ESPN personalities: @espn, @ESPNHomeCourt, @ESPNU, @DickieV, @JayBilas, and @ESPN_ReceDavis.
Organizers also encouraged the Ram Nation to use Facebook to send messages and post on the walls of ESPN, ESPN Home Court and ESPNU,and tell them why they should come to the Siegel Center!
